Miss Universe 2005 Contestants Updates and Changes




· Miss Argentina Universe: Venezuela National Director Osmel Sousa has been named to oversee the Miss Argentina Universe Pageant and will revamp the program to crown a contestant who will go on to compete at the 2006 Miss Universe Pageant. Mr. Sousa’s expertise in pageantry ensures the contest will be one of the best in the country’s history and that the next Miss Argentina Universe, who will be crowned at the conclusion of an extravagant Pageant, will be a strong representative of her country.

· Miss Indonesia Universe: For the first time since 1996 Indonesia will participate in the Miss Universe Pageant. Artika Sari Devi, 25 from Bangka, Indonesia will represent her country at the 54th Annual Miss Universe Pageant.

· Miss Sri Lanka Universe: It is also Miss Sri Lanka Universe’s first visit to the Miss Universe Pageant since 1996. Rozanne Diasz, 26 of Colombo, Sri Lanka will represent her country at the 54th Annual Miss Universe Pageant.

· Miss Ecuador Universe: Ximena Zamora Moreano, 20 of Guayaquil, Ecuador was crowned Miss Ecuador Universe during her National Pageant which aired on Gamavision on March 10th, 2005.

· Miss Latvia Universe: For the first time in history Latvia will be represented at the Miss Universe Pageant. Jeva Kokorevica, 19 of Riga, Latvia will be her country’s first contestant. The Miss Universe Organization is proud to have Latvia represented.

· Miss Estonia Universe: Triinu Laurits, Miss Estonia Universe, will not compete in the Miss Universe 2005 Pageant.

Commentary was provided by Carson Kressley of Bravo’s “Queer Eye” along with the reigning Miss USA, Chelsea Cooley throughout the live telecast.

Celebrity Judges for the Pageant included: Olympic gold, silver, and bronze medalist Chad Hedrick; “Apprentice” regular and budding real estate developer, Donald Trump Jr.; shoe guru Steve Madden; NBC’s “Passion’s” star, James Hyde; “America’s Next Top Model” winner and the new face of CoverGirl cosmetics, Nicole Linkletter; Super Bowl MVP, Hines Ward; television personality Jillian Barberie; and Vice President & General Manager – North America and Global Cosmetics, Procter and Gamble, Gina Drosos.

Throughout the two-hour event, the contestants competed in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. During these competitions the “Top Five” finalists were selected before the crowning. Chelsea Cooley, Miss USA 2005, crowned her successor at the conclusion of the two-hour primetime telecast, before an estimated worldwide viewing audience of more than 250 million.

  • First Runner Up: Miss California USA, Tamiko Nash, will assume the duties of Miss USA 2006 if the titleholder is named Miss UNIVERSE 2006 or for some reason cannot fulfill her responsibilities.

Miss Universe 2006 was chosen by an international judging panel which included NBC’s Las Vegas star James Lesure; NBC’s latest winner from The Apprentice, Sean Yazbeck; renowned fashion photographer Patrick McMullan; Project Runway’s Santino Rice; NBC’s Deal or No Deal briefcase model Claudia Jordan; Telemundo’s Al Rojo Vivo anchor Maria Celeste Arraras; former Miss Universe Amelia Vega; television writer/creator Marc Cherry; former Miss Teen USA and actress, Bridgette Wilson Sampras; comedian Tom Green and former Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith.

Sony BMG artist Chelo performed his new song “Cha Cha” during the two-hour live telecast and 28-year-old opera-sensation Vittorio Grigolo performed selections from his debut album, “In The Hands Of Love.”

Throughout the two-hour event, the delegates competed in three categories; swimsuit, evening gown and interview. During these competitions the “Top Five” finalists were selected before the crowning. Natalie Glebova, Miss Universe 2005, crowned her successor at the conclusion of the two-hour primetime telecast, before an estimated worldwide viewing audience of more than 600 hundred million in over 180 countries.

Genavieve Paige Boue was crowned Miss South Florida Teen USA 2013. The Pageant was held at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel located in Hialeah Gardens, Florida and included a diverse group of young ladies from all over South Florida, who were judged on interview, swimsuit and evening gown. Judges were top professionals in business, fashion, fitness, and pageantry. The Pageant is an official preliminary to the Miss Florida Teen USA Pageant to be held in October 2012. Genavieve, who also won the title of “Elegance”, will have an opportunity to represent South Florida, and compete to win a $40,000.00 scholarship to Nova Southeastern University.

Genavieve Paige Boue is a 16 year old Business Magnet AP student, and Illusion Dancer at Southwest Senior High School, who has aspirations of becoming a successful business woman and on building an empire in fashion and other related industries. She was born and raised in Miami, Florida of parents of Cuban and French decent.

Since being crowned Miss South Florida Teen USA 2013, Genavieve has participated in many events, including but not limited to the Miracle on 136 Street Holiday Parade benefiting United Way at The Falls Shopping Center; the SOMI Talk of the Town event benefiting the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade and Million Trees Miami Project; the South Miami Parade of Elves; the Art of Night Opening at Shelbourne South Beach; the Martin Luther King Parade in Homestead, Florida; the Dan Marino Walkabout for Autism charity event at Sun Life Stadium; and the Nicolita Swimwear Roots of Hope charity event at PAX Miami, to name a few.

Genavieve is also a spokes model and jewelry designer, as she along with her mother, have launched their very own line of handmade jewelry called Gena’s Gems, which is available in many South Florida boutiques, spas and specialty stores. Genavieve is also involved in modeling, dancing and acting, and is currently working with many high couture local and foreign designers, well-known local recording artists and celebrities, and reputable companies and charitable organizations, such as her charity of choice, the Best Buddies Friendship Program, which promotes one-to-one friendships with young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Alexa Jones, Miss Orange County Teen Regional, Wins Miss California Teen USA 2012 Title, After Father’s Tragic Death.

Courageous Alexa Jones won the Miss California Teen USA title after her father died in a tragic car accident. She will go on to compete for 2012 Miss Teen USA Crown.

Miss Orange County Teen Regional 2012, Alexa Jones, 18, swapped crown as the new Miss California Teen USA 2012 in front of 117 contestants from all over California. The crowd gave such a loud cheer for Alexa Jones as she gave the most amazing answer to her final question, giving tears of joy to everyone.

This is not an easy year for Alexa in spite of attending numerous community services and appearances for Orange County. One afternoon, while spending some training time with her Pageant Director, Giselle Boone, she received a very difficult news that her father was involved in a car accident. Alexa and her Mom drove to their house immediately and on their way home, they received word that her father indeed passed away from the accident.

Alexa became an inspiration to so many teens who lost a love one as she spoke of not giving up and losing hope, remembering that it is not your fault and that you should work hard and follow your dreams, making your special family member the inspiration, and that’s what Alexa did.

Alexa is a communication major at University of California in San Marcos. Alexa will forever be in the book as the first Teen from Orange County to ever win the title Miss California Teen USA 2012 since 1983.

Alexa will travel and compete at the Miss Teen USA 2012 in the Bahamas. Alexa Jones was trained by her Executive Director, Giselle Boone and OC Pageant Coach Gina Simms.

Laura Kaeppeler Miss America 2012  Scores National Attention for Taste of the NFL at Super Bowl XLVI

Miss America 2012 Laura Kaeppeler is currently in Indianapolis, IN participating in media events surrounding Super Bowl XLVI for Taste of the NFL, including attending the big game on Sunday.

Laura looked lovely yesterday in her Express clothing, as she spent the day on the famous “Radio Row” of the Super Bowl inside the Media Center at Lucas Oil Stadium. She participated in several interviews with sports and entertainment outlets such as NFL.com, Sirius/XM Radio, and even Yahoo! Sports where she gave her Super Bowl pick.  She took a break from interviews to sit in on the press conference with Madonna, who spoke about her half-time performance plans.

This morning, Laura appeared on Good Morning America where she judged a sandwich competition between a chef who was a New York Giants fan and a chef who was a New England Patriots fan. Watch her segment here!

Tomorrow, she is honored to attend Taste of the NFL’s Party with a Purpose, where she will be on hand to welcome guests and help raffle off prizes.

Since 1992, the Taste of the NFL has rallied the country’s top chefs and the NFL’s greatest to raise money in support of food banks throughout the United States. Through the efforts of hundreds of volunteers who help make Taste of the NFL the single most successful charitable event at the Super Bowl, Taste of the NFL continues to help feed the 37 million Americans who have turned to their local food banks for assistance.

Ivian Sarcos Colmenares, Miss Venezuela, has been chosen as Miss World 2012 on November 6, 2011 in London, England. The 22-year-old beauty was crowned by her successor, Alexandria Mills of the United States, Miss World 2010. Ivian holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources and works in the field of broadcasting. Orphaned at age eight, she spent several years in a Catholic orphanage, which inspired her to dream of becoming a nun.

The first runner-up was Miss Philippines, Gwendoline Ruais. Second runner-up was Miss Puerto Rico, Amanda Vilanova. The remaining Top 7 were: Miss England, Alize Lily Mounter; Miss Korea, Kyung Min Doe; Miss South Africa, Bokang Montjane, and Miss Scotland, Jennifer Reoch.

The New Miss America 2012 Starts Her Year Off With a Visit to a Children’s Hospital

As her first official appearance of the year, Miss America 2012 Laura Kaeppeler visited her first children’s hospital of the year on Monday with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in Phoenix.

She spent the afternoon at Phoenix Children’s Hospital going room to room talking with patients and helping them do crafts.

At the end of the visit, Laura and Desert Schools presented a check for over $360,000. The money will go to the learning center at the hospital, named “One Darn Cool School.”

Children’s Miracle Network is the official platform of the Miss America Organization. Miss America serves as the goodwill ambassador for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, speaking on behalf of kids treated at children’s hospitals and raising awareness around the country.

Our partnership extends to the woman competing at the local, state and national levels of the Miss America Organization and since our partnership began in 2006, over $6 million has been raised for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and the Miss America Scholarship Fund.
