Miss Teen USA Pageant Announces 2005 Panel of Judges

KATHY HILTON AND COVERGIRL SPOKESMODEL NAIMA MORA HEADLINE CELEBRITY JUDGING PANEL FOR NBC’S MISS TEEN USA®

LIVE FROM BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA AUGUST 8, 9-11PM ET

New York, July 27, 2005– A diverse celebrity judging panel featuring Kathy Hilton (NBC’s “I Want to be a Hilton”) and Naima Mora (CoverGirl spokesmodel and winner of “America’s Next Top Model”) will help crown Miss Teen USA 2005 live on NBC August 8, 9-11pm ET. Galen Gering, hunky Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald on NBC’s “Passions” and Susie Castillo, MTV VJ and former Miss USA will host the pageant to be broadcast live from the Baton Rouge River Center Arena.

Teen sensation Aaron Carter will perform “Saturday Night” and “American Idol’s” Kimberley Locke will sing her top 20 hit “I Could.”

Chelsea Cooley, Miss USA 2005, will represent the United States as she competes with women from all corners of the globe for the coveted title of Miss Universe 2005. Chelsea, a North Carolina native, is a student at the Art Institute of Charlotte, where she is majoring in fashion marketing. After fulfilling her pageant duties as Miss USA, she will return to complete her degree and continue pursuing her dream of working with a major clothing designer. Australian native Jennifer Hawkins, Miss Universe 2004, will participate in the evening’s show and crown her successor.

Miss Universe 2005 Contestants Updates and Changes

· Miss Argentina Universe: Venezuela National Director Osmel Sousa has been named to oversee the Miss Argentina Universe Pageant and will revamp the program to crown a contestant who will go on to compete at the 2006 Miss Universe Pageant. Mr. Sousa’s expertise in pageantry ensures the contest will be one of the best in the country’s history and that the next Miss Argentina Universe, who will be crowned at the conclusion of an extravagant Pageant, will be a strong representative of her country.

· Miss Indonesia Universe: For the first time since 1996 Indonesia will participate in the Miss Universe Pageant. Artika Sari Devi, 25 from Bangka, Indonesia will represent her country at the 54th Annual Miss Universe Pageant.

· Miss Sri Lanka Universe: It is also Miss Sri Lanka Universe’s first visit to the Miss Universe Pageant since 1996. Rozanne Diasz, 26 of Colombo, Sri Lanka will represent her country at the 54th Annual Miss Universe Pageant.

· Miss Ecuador Universe: Ximena Zamora Moreano, 20 of Guayaquil, Ecuador was crowned Miss Ecuador Universe during her National Pageant which aired on Gamavision on March 10th, 2005.

· Miss Latvia Universe: For the first time in history Latvia will be represented at the Miss Universe Pageant. Jeva Kokorevica, 19 of Riga, Latvia will be her country’s first contestant. The Miss Universe Organization is proud to have Latvia represented.

· Miss Estonia Universe: Triinu Laurits, Miss Estonia Universe, will not compete in the Miss Universe 2005 Pageant.

A Special Miss USA “Fear Factor” to Precede Pageant at 8pm ET

NEW YORK – March 10, 2005 – NBC, Donald Trump and Paula M. Shugart, President, Miss Universe Organization announced today that six-time Olympic gold medallist Michael Phelps; CoverGirl supermodel and star of NBC’s “Las Vegas” Molly Sims; boxing legend and co-star of NBC’s “The Contender” Sugar Ray Leonard; and world-renowned beauty expert Frederic Fekkai will headline the celebrity judging panel for the Miss USA® 2005 pageant. Broadcast live on NBC, “Access Hollywood’s” Billy Bush and Nancy O’Dell will co-host the pageant from Baltimore’s Hippodrome Theatre on April 11, 9-11pm ET.

Also featured on this year’s judging panel are: famed fashion designer Pamela Dennis, notorious ladies-man Raj Bhakta from NBC’s “The Apprentice,” model Nicola Breytanbach and Brody Hutzler from NBC’s “Days of Our Lives.”

These eight judges will survey delegates from all 50 states plus the District of Columbia and evaluate them based upon three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview competition. Shandi Finnessey, Miss USA 2004, will crown her successor at the conclusion of the two-hour primetime telecast before a potential worldwide viewing audience of more than 250 million in 100 countries.

A special episode of NBC’s “Fear Factor” featuring six Miss USA delegates will broadcast April 11 at 8pm ET.

Thailand to Host 2005 Miss Universe® Pageant

Miss Universe 2005 to be Televised Live on NBC

New York, February, 2005 Paula M. Shugart, President of the Miss Universe Organization announced today that Bangkok Thailand will host the 2005 MISS UNIVERSE® Competition. The show will broadcast domestically on NBC and Telemundo on Monday, May 30, 2005 at 9PM ET (delayed PT) and will be distributed around the world to nearly a billion viewers.

We felt during our first trip to Bangkok, last June, that we had found our home for the next Miss Universe competition, said Shugart. The officials we met with in Thailand showed great enthusiasm at the prospect of hosting the three week event. After the tragic tsunami of December 26th, all discussions were put on hold out of respect for the country and the Thai people. In recent weeks the Thai Government and the other entities involved returned to us, certain of their desire to host the Pageant, its contestants and their families and friends. We are honored and look forward to the privilege of helping Thailand as it begins to rebuild its tourism industry. We have told Minister Kunplome that he has our full support.

We send our sincerest thanks to The Miss Universe Organization for all the support and enthusiasm they have shown since this process began, said Thailand’s Minister of Sport and Tourism, Mr. Sontaya Kunplome. We know that bringing the Pageant to Thailand is one of the many steps in re-building our economy and boosting our tourism. There is no better time, for our people and our economy, for us to bring this worldwide event to our country.

Of Thailand’s 62 million residents, almost 10 million reside in Bangkok, known in Thai as the “City of Angels”. The 223 year old city, which is rapidly becoming one of the premiere fashion capitals of the world, is a dazzling mix of towering sky scrapers, shimmering golden temples (including the dazzling and not to be missed Grand Palace) and unique shopping districts. The city is also home to many ancient canals, which once afforded Bangkok the title “Venice of the East”. Outside the city’s 200-plus mile perimeter, the landscape is diverse. From the lush green mountainous forests of Northern Thailand to the stunning tropical white-sand beaches along the Andaman Sea (home to some of the world’s best snorkeling and scuba diving), the country offers a variety of scenic tours and relaxing destinations. During the three-week pageant period, family, friends and international media from all over the world will visit Bangkok while hundreds of millions of viewers will tune-in for the live broadcast.

The 54th Annual Miss USA® Pageant is to be Broadcast Live from Baltimore, Maryland

New York, October 7, 2004: Paula M. Shugart, President of the Miss Universe Organization announced today that the state of Maryland will host the 54th Annual Miss USA® Competition live from the historic, Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore on NBC during early April.

Maryland’s diversity is going to provide an unprecedented backdrop for our telecast,” says Shugart. “The spectacular mountains, beach communities, quaint historical cities and sites, combined with all Baltimore has to offer, will create a spectacular opportunity to showcase the entire state.”

Baltimore has retained its sense of history, art and tradition, while carefully blending in cosmopolitan progress. With over one hundred community festivals, concerts, and events organized annually, more than 1.5 million visitors per year delight in the discovery of Baltimore’s charms. During the three-week pageant period, thousands of friends, family members and fans are expected to visit Maryland and millions will tune-in to watch the live telecast, providing substantial exposure for the city and state. On average, the Miss USA pageant is seen in over fifty countries; the 2004 Miss USA pageant was distributed to a record-breaking one hundred countries and territories.

Shandi Finnessey, Miss USA 2004, travels the nation as an advocate for breast and ovarian cancer education, research, and legislation. Finnessey will crown her successor at the conclusion of the two-hour primetime telecast, before as estimated worldwide viewing audience of 250 million in more than 73 countries. Each contestant from all 50 states and the District of Columbia will be judged in three categories, including swimsuit, evening gown and interview.

Along with Executive Producer, Donald J. Trump, the Gurin Company will again produce Miss USA 2005 with veteran television Writer and Executive Producer Phil Gurin at the helm. Baltimore, MD –This evening, during one of the year’s most exciting live television events, a star-studded panel of judges chose Miss Kentucky USA, Tara Elizabeth Conner as MISS USA® 2006.

Ms. Conner is a 20 year-old from Russell Springs, Kentucky who is currently studying business administration at Somerset Community College.

Dancing With The Star’s cycle two winner Drew Lachey and Access Hollywood Nancy O’Dell, hosted the live telecast from the 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. Commentary was provided by Carson Kressley of Bravo’s “Queer Eye” along with the reigning Miss USA, Chelsea Cooley throughout the live telecast.

Celebrity Judges for the Pageant included: Olympic gold, silver, and bronze medalist Chad Hedrick; “Apprentice” regular and budding real estate developer, Donald Trump Jr.; shoe guru Steve Madden; NBC’s “Passion’s” star, James Hyde; “America’s Next Top Model” winner and the new face of CoverGirl cosmetics, Nicole Linkletter; Super Bowl MVP, Hines Ward; television personality Jillian Barberie; and Vice President & General Manager – North America and Global Cosmetics, Procter and Gamble, Gina Drosos.

Throughout the two-hour event, the contestants competed in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. During these competitions the “Top Five” finalists were selected before the crowning. Zuleyka Rivera, Miss Puerto Rico, Wins Miss Universe® 2006 Title

Congratulations to the new Miss Universe® 2006, Zuleyka Rivera, Miss Puerto Rico

Los Angeles, California, July 23, 2006 –This evening, during one of the year’s most exciting live television events, a star-studded panel of judges chose Zuleyka Rivera, Miss Puerto Rico, as MISS UNIVERSE® 2006.

The 18-year-old delegate from Puerto Rico was crowned at the conclusion of the 55th Annual broadcast on NBC live from Los Angeles, California.

Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell and actor/singer Carlos Ponce (7th Heaven), hosted the live telecast from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. Commentary was provided by Carson Kressley of Bravo’s Queer Eye along with Shandi Finnessey, Miss USA 2004 throughout the live telecast.

Miss Universe 2006 was chosen by an international judging panel which included NBC’s Las Vegas star James Lesure; NBC’s latest winner from The Apprentice, Sean Yazbeck; renowned fashion photographer Patrick McMullan; Project Runway’s Santino Rice; NBC’s Deal or No Deal briefcase model Claudia Jordan; Telemundo’s Al Rojo Vivo anchor Maria Celeste Arraras; former Miss Universe Amelia Vega; television writer/creator Marc Cherry; former Miss Teen USA and actress, Bridgette Wilson Sampras; comedian Tom Green and former Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith.

Sony BMG artist Chelo performed his new song “Cha Cha” during the two-hour live telecast and 28-year-old opera-sensation Vittorio Grigolo performed selections from his debut album, “In The Hands Of Love.”

Throughout the two-hour event, the delegates competed in three categories; swimsuit, evening gown and interview. During these competitions the “Top Five” finalists were selected before the crowning. Natalie Glebova, Miss Universe 2005, crowned her successor at the conclusion of the two-hour primetime telecast, before an estimated worldwide viewing audience of more than 600 hundred million in over 180 countries.

Miss Tennessee USA Wins Miss USA® 2007 Title

Congratulations to Rachel Smith, Miss USA®, of Tennessee

Hollywood, CA – Friday, March 23, 2007 – This evening, during one of the year’s most exciting live television events, a star-studded panel of judges chose Rachel Smith, Miss Tennessee USA as MISS USA® 2007, during a live NBC telecast on March 23rd

Ms. Smith received a full tuition scholarship to Belmont University and graduated with a degree in Journalism. The 21-year-old Clarksville native is highly involved in community volunteering for numerous organizations and has traveled to South Africa to assist young women from less advantaged backgrounds.

The judging panel for the 2007 Miss USA® Pageant included: Vince Young; NFL Quarter-back for the Tennessee Titans; Bravo’s “Blowout” star, Jonathan Antin; Los Angeles Lakers owner, real estate tycoon Dr. Jerry Buss; E! News Co-Host Giuliana De Pandi; MTV’s “Total Request Live” VJ and “Entertainment Tonight” Correspondent Vanessa Minnillo; President and Creative Director, Baby Phat Kimora Lee Simmons; Jerry Springer host of NBC’s hit show “America’s Got Talent” and Corinne Nicolas, President of Trump Model Management headlined the celebrity-judging panel.

Throughout the live two-hour primetime event hosted by “Access Hollywood’s” Nancy O’Dell and Tim Vincent, the contestants competed in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. After these competitions, the Top Five finalists were selected before the crowning. Tara Conner, Miss USA 2006, crowned her successor before an estimated worldwide viewing audience of more than 250 million.

Mexico City, Mexico May 28, 2007 –This evening, during one of the year’s most exciting live international television events, a star-studded panel of judges chose Miss Japan, Riyo Mori, as Miss Universe®.

Ms. Mori is 20 years-old and has been dancing since she was 4. She loves traveling the world and enjoys visiting museums and watching musicals.

The judging panel for the 2007 Miss Universe Pageant included NBC’s “Heroes” James Kyson Lee, NBC’s “Deal or No Deal” briefcase model Lindsay Clubine, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, rocker Dave Navarro, World and Olympic figure skating champion Michelle Kwan, fashion designer Marc Bouwer, Novela Star Mauricio Islas, “Project Runway” judge and Elle magazine fashion director Nina Garcia, and former Miss Universes Dayanara Torres (1993) and Christiane Martel (1953).

Throughout the two-hour event, contestants from 77 countries around the world competed in three categories: swimsuit; evening gown; and personality interview. Zuleyka Rivera, Miss Universe 2006, crowned her successor at the conclusion of the two-hour primetime telecast, before an estimated worldwide viewing audience of more than 1 billion in over 170 countries.

Final Results:

First Runner Up: Miss Brazil, Natalia Guimaraes will assume the duties of MISS UNIVERSE 2007 if the titleholder for some reason cannot fulfill her responsibilities.

“Extra’s” Mario Lopez hosted the live telecast from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in California on Friday, August 24th, 2007 from 8:00p.m. to 10:00p.m. ET/PT. Nineteen-year-old singing superstar, Kat DeLuna performed “Whine Up” and the sensational Jonas Brothers performed a medley of their hits “Hold On” and “S.O.S.” during the telecast. Mrs. Alabama’s platform is Literacy and Read Across America. She is a 3rd grade teacher and owner of Fairytale Journeys Travel Agency, which specializes in Disney Vacations. Mrs. Hays lives near beautiful Lake Martin, AL where she spends her time with her husband and 2 boys.

Valentine Pageant Crowns Seven Winners

Congratulations to the Winners of the Valentine of the River Region Pageant

Prattville, Alabama — Sterling Miss Productions hosted the Valentine of the River Region Pageant and seven young ladies from across central Alabama took home the crowns. The event, held at Prattville Jr. High School, was emceed by Dean Argo and 81 young ladies participated in the day’s events.

Valentine Pageant winners were: Baby Miss – Chloe Chatman of Millbrook, Tiny Miss – Addy Dick of Prattville, Petite Miss – Taylor Wright of Montgomery, Little Miss – Gracie Luster of Wetumpka, Young Miss – Campbell Thornton of Wetumpka, Pre-Teen Miss – Sarah Bush and Teen Miss –Jessica Baker of Tallahassee.

The winners were crowned by members of the reigning Miss River Region 2011 Court. Over 80 young ladies participated in the event and each took home a Valentine-themed crown and sash. Optional category winners received sashes and the Most Photogenic and People’s Choice winners in each age division received crowns and sashes. The money collected for People’s Choice Awards went to Children’s Miracle Network and the Miss River Region Scholarship fund.

The Little Miss Firecracker Pageant is scheduled for Saturday, June 23rd at Prattville’s Doster Center. All Sterling Miss/River Region pageants are open to girls throughout the state of Alabama. To learn more, visit www.MissRiverRegion.com and click on the “Little Pageants” tab.

Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant, Loft 181, Caitlin's Closet, charity outreach.

Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant has teamed up with Loft 181 and Caitlin's Closet to collect gently-used prom gowns to benefit teenage girls in foster care.

Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, Elizabeth Fechtel has teamed up with Loft 181 in Florida and non-profit organization Caitlin’s Closet to provide girls in the foster care system the opportunity to wear beautiful, donated dresses to their proms. She is hoping to collect over 100 dresses in the next month to donate to Loft 181 on behalf of Caitlin’s Closet.

Loft 181, in Tampa, FL, is a beautiful store where teenage girls in foster care can shop for gently used clothing absolutely FREE!

“Ask any girl and she will tell you that half the fun of going to prom is the process of getting ready and figuring out what to wear,” said Elizabeth. “As a senior in high school, I know there are many girls who feel held back from attending prom because of financial reasons. Prom is the highlight of the year and I am proud to support such a rewarding cause.”

Elizabeth was greatly inspired by former Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Caitlin Brunell who founded Caitlin’s Closet and has collected over 9000 prom dresses for girls in need.
