GenerationOn and Hasbro, Inc. Team Up to Inspire Kids to Volunteer Through Holiday Gift Campaign
For Each Service Pledge Made, Hasbro to Donate a Toy to a Child in Need, Up to 100,000 Toys, Through Toys for Tots
NEW YORK (NOVEMBER 29, 2011) – The holiday season is an opportunity to inspire kids to get involved in bringing positive change to their communities. It is also a time to help children reflect on the meaning of giving and deepen their understanding of the world around them. To mark the season of giving, generationOn and its partners at Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) are inspiring kids and teens to pledge their commitment to the power of service and give back to children in need through the second annual generationOn Holiday Gift Campaign.
Beginning today through December 13, each time a child or teen takes the pledge to volunteer at www.generationOn.org, Hasbro will donate a toy to a child in need through Toys for Tots. Hasbro has committed to donating up to 100,000 toys through its ongoing partnership with generationOn. Parents, teachers and youth leaders can encourage kids to take the pledge to volunteer, and kids can encourage their friends, classmates and peers to commit to the power of helping others. The more kids and teens that take action, the more toys will be donated to those in need during the holidays.
“We are so grateful to Hasbro for helping to bring the joy of the holidays to the thousands of children who would have otherwise not received a gift this year,” commented Kathy Saulitis, vice president, youth & family engagement at generationOn. “At generationOn we encourage kids to be compassionate, caring citizens and the holiday season is the perfect time for all kids to use their time and talent to do good for other children.”
“Hasbro is honored to partner with generationOn and youth throughout the US to make the holidays a bit brighter for children who need it most,” said Karen Davis, vice president, community relations at Hasbro, Inc. “Giving back and believing in the power of youth service is a core part of our culture and we couldn’t be more thrilled to support and donate toys in honor of kids and teens who pledge to serve their communities knowing they will be impacting another child’s life in the most positive way.”
With a goal of donating 100,000 toys and engaging an even larger group of young people in service, generationOn encourages kids and families everywhere to get involved and make their mark on their local community by making a pledge to take action at http://holidaytoys.generationon.org/ or on Facebook. Kids, parents, teachers and nonprofit organizations are also encouraged to explore the various resources available at www.generationOn.org including holiday service projects that can help kids turn pledges in to projects.
