Another Great Pageant Hair Style is the Pageboy, Shorter, Softly Curled Hairstyle
The “Pageboy” … think Doris Day, Donna Reed…or Nancy Pelosi or Condoleeza Rice. Shorter, lightly layered, softly curled styles just convey that classy “wife, not mistress” image that also practically shouts “serious career woman”.
This classic feminine hairstyle was been a classic in pageant competition for years. It was especially favored during the 1950s when most Miss Americas won with the style (Check out Mary Ann Mobley to the right).
While the style is less common in actual competition today — is a frequent favorite of pageant titleholders during their reigns because it is so easy to care for!
For ages, the short, gently curled style was the only look you could compete with at the Miss America Pageant – except that massive 60’s beehive hair-do that gave short hair a run for a decade.
This easy-care look works well for curly hair and coarse hair texture. It also, because it is so ever-so-easy to maintain, the hairstyle is a favorite hairstyle for on-the-go titleholders during their reigns.
