UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – June 20, 2011 – NBC’s Sunday telecast of “Miss USA 2011″ has matched the event’s highest adult 18-49 rating in six years and generated its biggest overall audience in four years, according to “fast affiliate-based” “live plus same day” viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

The 9-11 p.m. ET telecast of “Miss USA 2011″ averaged a 2.2 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49 and 7.2 million viewers overall, to equal the pageant’s highest 18-49 rating since 2005 and attract its biggest overall viewership in since 2007. Versus last year, “Miss USA” jumped 57 percent in 18-49 rating (2.2 vs. a 1.4 from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, May 16, 2010) and increased 37 percent in total viewers (7.246 million vs. 5.276 million).

“Miss USA 2011″ was the #1 program of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key categories (excluding NBC’s U.S. Open golf overrun). From its first half-hour to its fourth, “Miss USA” increased by 50 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.4 from a 1.8) and grew by 34 percent or 2.1 million persons in total viewers (8.3 million vs. 6.2 million). For its second hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, “Miss USA” out-rated the ABC-CBS competition combined in all key ratings categories.

From 8-9 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of “America’s Got Talent” (1.1/4 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall) increased from its first half-hour to its second by 20 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.2 from a 1.0) and 16 percent in total viewers (5.0 million vs. 4.3 million). “Talent” ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in the hour in adults 18-49 and was #1 in adults and men 25-54.

From 7-7:47 p.m. ET, NBC ran overrun coverage of golf’s U.S. Open and from 7:47-8 p.m. ET, NBC aired an encore telecast of “Minute To Win It.”

NBC ranked #1 for the night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, total viewers and most other key ratings categories. This marks NBC’s first outright Sunday win in adults 18-49 and total viewers since January 2.

Preliminary 18-49 averages for Sunday night are: NBC, 1.8/6; Fox, 1.3/4; ABC, 0.7/2; CBS, 0.7/2. In overall total viewers, June 19 preliminary results are: NBC, 6.6 million; CBS, 5.4 million; ABC, 3.9 million; Fox, 2.8 million.
