The Miss Teen USA® pageant is an annual competition for girls between the ages of 14 and 19, each representing their home state and the District of Columbia, respectively. The winner will have the opportunity to spend the year of her reign living in New York City as a student of The New York Film Academy, representing her title and working with multiple charitable alliances, including Best Buddies, Sparrow Clubs, Girl Talk, D.A.R.E. and Project Sunshine.
“Atlantis has been a great partner and host for previous events, including the 2009 Miss Universe®® competition, and I have no doubt the 2010 Miss Teen USA® pageant will be extremely successful. I am also excited to work with the Atlantis team to develop strong, future competitors through the Miss Teen USA® Fantasy Camp,” said Paula Shugart, President, MUO.
The second annual Miss Teen USA® Fantasy Camp at Atlantis, Paradise Island, the only pageant preparation program endorsed by MUO, will take place the week leading up to the pageant, July 19-25. The Miss Teen USA® Fantasy Camp provides prospective competitors with an unparalleled, behind-the-scenes look at the preparation required to become a national titleholder, such as Miss Teen USA®.
Girls ages 12-17 will have the opportunity to participate in a professional photo shoot with MUO photographers; receive hair, makeup and wardrobe tips from MUO titleholders, employees and affiliates; perfect stage skills through runway and choreography sessions; and meet Miss Teen USA 2009, Stormi Henley. Campers will also participate in resort activities, including a private spa party and dolphin interaction. The cost of camp, which includes room and board at the luxury resort for six nights and a gift bag with an exclusive Sherri Hill cocktail dress, is $1,975 per participant. Special rates are available for chaperones.
All campers, pageant competitors and resort guests will have access to the full grounds of Atlantis, including Aquaventure, a modern waterscape with more than 20 million gallons of water coursing through 141 acres of luscious tropical scenery. Water slides, river rides, pools and swimming areas allow guests hours of thrill-seeking adventure or lazy river-rafting relaxation. Atlantis is also home to the world’s largest open-air marine habitat. The resort’s 14 exhibit lagoons offer up-close views of more than 50,000 marine animals from over 250 species. At Dolphin Cay, visitors can meet and interact with the rescued Hurricane Katrina dolphins and sea lions in an encounter enriching for both the guests and the animals. Atlantis also boasts 21 culinary destinations, including restaurants helmed by celebrity chefs Bobby Flay, Nobu Matsuhisa and Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
