Straight Blunt-Cut Hair Styles are another option for Pageant contestants
Pageant Tip: If you are a more serious young woman with heavy-weight talent and scholastic accomplishments, traditional “pageant girl” hair styles may not be the right choice for you. Another pageant hair style that wins, although less often, is a blunt cut, softly curled just above the shoulder or at jaw length style, often with light bangs.
This clean-cut, easy-care style can help a contestant stand out among girls with fussier hairstyles.
It also is ideal for those contestants with a more serious personality and accomplishments, as demonstrated by the fact that Deidre Downs (to right), who won Miss America 2005, was a medical school student at University of Alabama School of Medicine. According to Miss America officials, she earned over $100,000 in scholarships during the five years she competed.
(Note: So, if you are a serious college student with a skill in the performing arts, enter the Miss America Pageant system and earn some scholarship money! You do not need a “pageant girl” look to win and pay for your education…)
