Miss America Pageant contestant Allyn Rose will undergo a double mastectomy as a preventative measure to her family’s extreme genetic susceptibility to breast cancer. Her mother, grandmother and great aunt all died from the disease.
A twenty-four year old from Newburg, Maryland, Rose will compete in January’s Miss America Pageant as Miss District of Columbia. She will advocate the platform, “Breast Cancer: Planning a Marathon, Running a Sprint” to increase breast cancer awareness.
She hopes to obtain her law degree in Constitutional Law and eventually serve in public office.
