By Brandon Sloane — Laura Rose Golden was recently selected USA’s Teen Miss Florida 2012. She will join state delegates from across the country to compete for the title of USA’s Teen Miss 2012. The 2012 USA’s National Pageant will be held in July in Gainesville, Georgia.
Pageant director Lisa Phillips feels Laura exemplifies qualities that she was looking for in a delegate. Laura has raised funds for the past seven years, which have supplied a book for summer reading for each and every student of a local elementary school. Eighty-five percent of their students are enrolled in the free and reduced meal program. Laura also founded and organized Project Bright Start in 2009. This program supplies new backpacks filled with the necessary supplies for students in need at the school, which are gifted to them at the beginning of their school year. Her active volunteering role has not only been beneficial to the charities she has worked with, but it has been equally rewarding for her as well.
USA’S Pageants recognize and encourage young women to strive for higher education and to serve as positive role models in their communities. USA’s Pageants was founded on the principle “Use your crown to make a difference” and that the future of the world depends on the ability today’s women of all ages to take leadership roles in society.
Teens interested in representing Georgia at USA’s 2012 Nationals can enter USA’s 2012 North Georgia State Pageant being held on June 10, 2012.
