Newly Appointed Queen Will Use Crown to Tackle Issues Surrounding Domestic Violence
(Washington, D.C.) – On May 19, 2013, the Doubletree by Hilton hosted DC Exquisite’s “A Crowning Affair”, along with Mrs. Maryland International 2010 Angel McCoy and Miss Exquisite International 2012 Amina Lillie Gilyard serving as the pageant co-directors. This event featured live entertainment, a silent auction to benefit We Will Survive Cancer, and the crowning of four fabulous queens.
Ms. LaToya Grant, a native of Greenville, SC and a graduate of Florida A&M University, a community advocate and volunteer, was crowned Ms. DC Exquisite 2013.
“I am so excited, honored, and humbled to serve in this capacity”, says Grant. “With my platform of ‘Silent No More: Giving a Voice to Survivors of Domestic Violence’, I will partner with the DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence to bring awareness to communities regarding domestic violence and discuss solutions on how to stop the cycle of domestic violence with adults and children alike.”
Ms. Grant will represent our nation’s capital at the 2013 Exquisite International Pageant in Baltimore, Maryland in August. Ms. Grant has spearheaded many initiatives and worked with numerous non-profit organizations in the Washington, DC area.
