1927 Miss America Pageant - Lois Delander wins
Lois Eleanor Delander, Miss Illinois, won the 1927 Miss America pageant.
Lois Delander Miss America 1927, Miss Illinois, was the last winner crowned before the pageant was discontinued until 1933.
Delander was 5'4 1/2 " tall, with light brown hair, blue eyes and "fair" complexion.
A year later, the stock market crashed, plunging the United States into the Great Depression.
Lois Eleanor Delander, Miss Illinois, won the 1927 Miss America title. Her crown hasn't kept her from "gathering around the gas stove", says mom.
